My Vikasa Yoga Review Reveals The Details Of Their In-Person & Online YTT’s

YouTube video

When I was choosing where to do my first yoga teacher training in 2018, Vikasa Yoga caught my eye.

Vikasa Yoga's ethos and methodology stood out as their training programs are equally about elevating your consciousness and shining a beacon for others.

Of course, the idyllic beach backdrop is an added advantage of choosing Vikasa for your YTT. But if you can't afford a trip to Thailand right now, fear not, as Vikasa also offers its legendary training online.

So whether you're dreaming of becoming a yoga teacher in a tropical paradise or seeking a highly reputable online yoga school, read on for my Vikasa Toga review. My in-depth analysis of Vikasa Yoga's teacher training courses will save you many hours of research and help you decide whether this is the right school for you.

About Vikasa Yoga Academy

Vikasa Yoga's teaching method is based on classical Hatha yoga with influences from Himalayan Buddhism and Taoism practices. This approach allows you to understand different Eastern philosophies, developing a highly mindfulness-based spiritual practice.

At Vikasa Yoga, you will learn so much more than asana. Their teaching method centers around three pillars; Mind, Body, and Energy, resulting in a well-rounded training program.

Vikasa also has a strong focus on living a healthy yogic lifestyle. Their yoga teacher training doesn't just prepare you to share the practice with others; it encourages you to adopt healthier habits to become the best version of yourself. They have even put together a free lifestyle guide that can help you determine if their values align with your own.

Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher training with Vikasa Yoga

Vikasa Yoga registered with Yoga Alliance in 2012 and has since successfully graduated and certified hundreds of yoga teachers.

The Vikasa Yoga syllabus has been approved by the Yoga Alliance, meaning the entire program meets Yoga Alliance standards.

As Vikasa Yoga is a RYS (Registered Yoga School) with Yoga Alliance, you can register as a RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) upon completing their 200-hour program.

If you are already a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher, Vikasa's 300-hour YTT will allow you to upgrade your credentials to a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher.

Moreover, completing one of their Continuing Education (CE) courses will count towards your required CE hours (Continuing Education) to keep your membership valid.

How much does Vikasa Yoga cost?

During the low season (May to November), expect to pay between $1680 and $2520 (accommodation included) for Vikasa's 200-hour YTT.

The 200-hour foundation course during the high season (December to April) typically costs between $2090 and $4190 (with accommodation).

Vikasa's advanced 300-hour YTT is typically priced between $2100 and $5090, depending on accommodation and time of year.

The Vikasa online 200-hour YTT is priced at $1000, including lifetime access to the course content and five bonuses!

Meet the instructors & directors of Vikasa Yoga

Vikasa Yoga has an 8-person strong teaching team of experienced E-RYT 200 and E-RYT 500 yoga instructors from all over the world.

What I like the most about Vikasa's teaching team is that many of them are resident teachers who have been with the school for many years. This is not the case for all yoga schools in Thailand, as many have teachers constantly coming and going. So, the long-term commitment of Vikasa Yoga teachers means the quality of the school's training is consistently high.

Here are a few of the teachers you will encounter at Vikasa Yoga.

Is Vikasa Yoga legit?

With their great reviews and over ten years in business, there’s no question that Vikasa Yoga is legit.

One thing I realized when searching for a yoga school in Thailand was how many options there are, especially on the southern islands like Koh Phangan and Koh Samui. However, as a fast-growing country, many of Thailand's yoga schools are newly established and are yet to build a name for themselves.

Vikasa, however, has been around for years, opening its doors in 2011. Since then, it has become the most reputable yoga school on the island of Koh Samui and one of the top schools in Thailand.

Aside from its history, ratings are a great way to determine the legitimacy of a yoga school. On its Yoga Alliance school profile, Vikasa Yoga has a respectful rating of 4.65 out of 5 stars.

Is Vikasa Yoga worth it?

Being a well-respected and long-established yoga school, choosing to do a YTT with Vikasa Yoga is a sound decision. Vikasa's yoga teacher training is just as much a self-discovery journey as a learning experience, so what you gain will benefit your life in every way possible.

What's more, whether you choose the online or in-person course, you'll be under the instruction of highly experienced educators. You will also be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance upon successful completion.

If you're still unconvinced, read on for my comprehensive Vikasa Yoga review for their online and in-person courses.
